Sunil Kothari of BJP has become the mayor of Jaipur. In the election, Kothari received 89 votes while Congress candidate Sunita Mawar got 60 votes.
BJP has 78 councillors in the Municipal Corporation while Congress has 58 in the 150-member corporation.
Kothari was elected councillor from ward 112. He had defeated the Congress candidate by a margin of about 900 votes.
A veteran in BJP, Kothari had been Jaipur City President and State Secretary and State Vice President in the party.
Mayor Sunil Kothari will take charge at 5 pm on Friday.
