Amit Jain, a 2020 batch IPS officer from Rajasthan cadre, who was serving as deputy commissioner (East) in Jodhpur, has been put on APO following several complaints. The chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, who was on Jodhpur visit, sent him on APO after receiving several complaints regarding his working style.
Jain, who was posted in July this year on recommendation of local BJP leaders, served in Jodhpur commissionerate for less than one and half months. He has served as DCP traffic in Jodhpur earlier also in February this year but his tenure lasted just four months. Even his previous posting as SP Balotara also lasted two months before he joined Jodhpur again as DCP (East).
Why Jain was put on APO?
According to sources, chief minister had received several complaints of Jain about not picking up calls. Jodhpur Development Authority officials also complained about Jain for not sending police force to handle public protest outside the authority. It turned out into law and order situation.
Sources said that, IIT Jodhpur director also complained about the working of Jain as Jodhpur police delayed in lodging FIR in a recent scuffle between IIT director and an associate professor of IIT.
Apart from that chief minister was also not happy with the working of Jain. On the occasion of Independence Day, when Jodhpur hosted the state ceremony, a bike rider died in an accident in CM route on Residency Road. Enraged family members blocked the CM route and the chief minister who was there to hoist the flag, had to take another route to reach the airport.
“All these incidents collectively became the reason for the action against Jain,” said a police officer.
