Coincidence: Damad-Sasur both serving as District Collectors

Call it a coincidence, duo of father-in-law and son-in-law are serving as District in Rajasthan. Son-in-law Sushil Kumar is serving as Balotra Collector while his father-in-law Harphool Singh Yadav is serving as Bundi Collector. 

There is one more coincidence associated with this officer-duo. Both have served as head of Municipal Corporation Ajmer. Sushil Kumar had served as Commissioner while Yadav as

“Perhaps this the first instance where father-in-law and son-in-law, both are serving as Collectors. There have been instances where father-son duo have served together as IAS officers at the same time. But not as Collectors,” said R C Jain, former IAS, who have seen the Rajasthan bureaucracy closely for 40 years. 

IAS officer and his father Sanwar Mal Verma – both were part of Rajasthan bureaucracy together. In fact Kanishak Kataria, who was then serving as Joint Secretary signed the relieving letter of Sanwar Mal Verma who retired as Divisional Commissioner Bharatpur. 

Sushil Kumar, an IAS officer of 2017 batch is serving as Balotra Collector. He is credited to have successfully organised the commissioning of refinery in Pachpadra recently where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the Chief Guest. 

Kumar, a dynamic officer, had earlier served as Ajmer Municipal Corporation Commissioner and CEO Zila Parishad Bharatpur where he had performed extremely well. 

Harphool Singh Yadav, a 2016 batch IAS officer, promoted from state service, had earlier served as Commissioner Kota Development Authority besides occupying key posts of Additional Commissioner JDA, Deputy Commissioner Commercial Tax among others.
