Putting rest to all speculations about the role of Congress leader Sachin Pilot in Rajasthan, the party has distanced Pilot from Rajasthan by appointing him the General Secretary incharge of organisation in Chhattisgarh.
After the defeat in assembly elections it was widely speculated that Sachin Pilot may be made state party chief or leader of opposition in Rajasthan.
But central leadership decided keep Pilot away from Rajasthan at least for some time.
According to sources, the party doesn't want a head on with Ashok Gehlot who doesn't want Pilot to be given any responsibility in Rajasthan.
“The silent rivalry between Pilot and Gehlot is well know. Now that Gehlot has also been given central charge of being member of National Alliance Committee which will coordinate with I.N.D.I.A bloc, it was necessary to keep out Pilot also from Rajasthan affairs to maintain balance,” said a senior Congress leader
Harish Choudhary relieved from Punjab responsibility.
In the process, Harish Choudhary has been relieved from being incharge of Punjab. There via great chance that he may be appointed as leader of opposition of state party chief if Congress decides to change Dotasara.
Choudhary being a Jat may be a natural choice to replace Dotasara, who is also a Jat. Even if Harish Choudhary is made leader of opposition then also Dotasara will needed to be changed. The party can't give two important positions to Jats.
Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has been retained as the incharge of Rajasthan.
