Depleted Revenue Board invites RAS officers for members

Rajasthan has invited applications from higher super time scale and super time scale Rajasthan Service (RAS) officers for the appointment of members in Revenue Board. The last date of submitting application is June 5, 2028. 

The total strength of Revenue Board is 20. Out of which 11 members are from RAS , two each from judicial service and legal advocate and five members are from besides the chairman, which is also a senior IAS officer. At present Hemant Gera, a 1997 batch IAS officer is heading the board.

At present , there are seven members from RAS – Suresh Chandra, Shiv Prasad Singh, Madan Lal Nehra, Bhawani Singh Palawat, Shravan Kumar Bunkar, Mahendra Lodha and Gaurav Bajad.

The official website of Revenue Board shows 2001 batch RAS officer Kamla Alaria as its member. Alaria has been transferred as registrar of of Bikaner in January this year. It also shows RD Meena IAS, Rajesh Kumar Daria and Purshottam Saini – both from judicial services – as its members.

“There are four vacancies from RAS quota which are to be filled,” said a senior official of Revenue Board.

There are 27 higher super time scale and 113 super time scale RAS officers eligible to apply for the post. However, the condition for appointment is, the officer should have completed 20 years of service and the age should be at least 54 years.

Pressure on board

The board is currently working at half the strength putting pressure on members. According to sources, there are around 70,000 litigations pending with the board. The resolution rate is quite low in view of the bench strength.
