Apart from Diwali, this month is likely to host flurry of transfer in Rajasthan bureaucracy.
Sources say that many IPS and IAS officers will change guards.
“As many as 10-15 district collectors including important districts will be changed. Recently promoted IAS officers from RAS and other services will get appropriate posts,” sources said.
Apart from that, more than 50 posts including some key portfolios are being handled as additional charge putting brakes on policy implementation.
“Officers handling posts as additional charge are clearing only routine files. Policy and other financial decisions are being put on back burner affecting the efficiency,” said a senior official.
Unlike neighbouring states like Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, transfers are less frequent in Rajasthan. In the current regime, officers specially collectors are getting good time to spend in districts and they have ample opportunity to showcase their abilities.
Government posing trust in officers
The government is not taking decision in haste. There were few instances where collectors were put in tight spot and in other regime transfer looked imminent. But top leadership decided in favour of collector.
“This not only inculcated confidence in that particular collectors but a strong message spread that if an officer is doing good job, he will get pat on his back,” said a senior IAS officer.
However, the decision related to Archana Singh looked harsh. She was put on APO abruptly after a technical snag in which she was not directly responsible.
“Archana Singh is an upright forward looking officer. Such incidents don't go well with officers of her calibre. The state government should not have taken such a harsh decision. If proactive officers like her are being penalised then it will have long lasting impact on governance,” said a senior IAS officer.
Transfers at top level in IPS
Rajeev Kumar Sharma was appointed as DGP on July 2025. There has not been any transfer at top level since his taking over as head of police force. Even two officers – Ashok Rathore and Malini Agrawal – who were promoted to DG rank – are still serving as ADG. So there is likely to have horizontal transfers at top of the pyramid. Besides that few SPs will also be changed.
