Satya Narain Jain, popularly known as SN Jain, a 1980 batch former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Rajasthan cadre, died of brain haemorrhage. He was 69.
He was staying with his son in London. The dead body is likely to come to Jaipur in 2-3 days.
SN Jain was considerate to be an upright efficient officer. He had served at various key posts including ADG Railways, IG BSF on Rajasthan and Punjab frontiers both and SP in districts like Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Bhilwara, Barmer and Sawai Madhopur among others.
He retired from the post of officer on special duty police headquarters.
A native of Haryana, Jain was considered an expert in controlling riots and he was master investigator.
“I was working under him as deputy superintendent of police. There was a theft of antique from Albert Hall Museum. Jain Sahab led the investigation and we were able to catch the culprit from almost nowhere. He had one of the sharpest police brains,” reminisced Vinay Kumar Gupta, former additional SP, who had served under him.
