IAS Ambrish Kumar sent on APO, Rohit Gupta given charge of Food Secretary

Ambrish Kumar, a 2004 batch officer of Rajasthan cadre, has been put on APO till further orders. He was serving as Secretary, Food, Public Supply and Consumers Affairs.

Rohit Gupta, a 2006 batch IAS officer, has now been given additional charge of Secretary, Food, Public Supply and Consumers Affairs. Gupta is serving as and Managing , Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL) – the nodal agency of renewable energy state, which is facilitating Rs 28 lakh crore investment committed at Rising Rajasthan Global Business Summit held in 2024. 

Gupta has come out with several investment friendly schemes including the 2,500 MW solar park with 1250 Battery Energy Storage System in Bikaner . 

“Gupta is an innovative officer. He has done extremely well wherever he had been posted. As the head of renewable energy corporation, he has been instrumental in putting Rajasthan on top of the national map,” said R.C. Jain, former IAS.

Why Ambrish Kumar went without permission?

Ambrish is considered as a person deeply immersive in social and spiritual activities. He has been Project Director of Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev's Isha Outreach, which is a the social and welfare arm of the Isha Foundation, focusing on rural rejuvenation, environmental protection, and quality .

Sources said that Ambrish had gone to Germany without seeking permission from Chief Minister. He was not 

“He was not attending office since July 12 and was not answering calls of officers. However, he is said to have cleared files online,” said an official. 

The Bhajan Lal government has taken disciplinary action sending him on APO.
