Rajasthan government has tightened its noose around candidates who are habitual absentees in recruitment examination. It will penalise such candidates and would be banned from appearing forthcoming examinations if found absent in two exams in one financial year.
In 2023, the government had facilitated aspirants of RPSC and SSB with one time registration (OTR). Under this scheme, they have to pay fee only once for unlimited appearances in examination. The recruitment agency charges OTR fees of Rs 600 and Rs 400 per candidate depending on the category.
“This has created problems for the examination bodies. Candidates apply for posts for which they are not even eligible and then abstain from appearing. This results in huge cost to examination bodies as they have to make arrangements for candidates,” said a senior official.
According to an estimate, the RPSC (Rajasthan Public Service Commission) spends an estimated Rs 400-500 per candidate for organising an exam. This cost includes the expenses of conducting the exam, including venue rental, printing of question papers, and other administrative expenses.
Pathak pulls the string
According to order issued by department of personnel secretary KK Pathak, the candidates absent in two examination in a financial year may remove the ban and restart OTR by paying up a penalty of Rs 750.
“If the candidate again remain absent in two examination in that particular financial year, they will need to pay Rs 1,500 for retaining the OTR facility,” said Pathak.
However, if the candidate informs the board or commission about his inability to appear in exam a month before in the prescribed format, he may be exempted from paying the penalty.
