The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting has approved the proposal for appointment of seven judges of the Rajasthan High Court under advocate quota.
These include Anand Sharma, Sunil Beniwal, Sandeep Taneja, Mukesh Rajpurohit, Sandeep Shah, Baljinder Singh Sandhu and Sheetal Mirdha.
Few days back, the Supreme Court had appointed advocate Maneesh Sharma as judge in the Rajasthan High Court.
There is vacancy of 50 judges in the Rajasthan High Court. With the likely addition of seven judges, the number of judges in the court will go up to 41. Still there will be vacancy of 9 judges.
Three judges of Rajasthan High Court to retire this year
This year, three judges of Rajasthan High Court are going to retire. In May, Justice Birendra Kumar will hang his boots followed by Justice Narendra Dhaddha in September. Justice Manoj Kumar Garg will retire in November this year.
“With likely addition of seven judges, the total number of judges will go upto 41. After retirement of three judges, the number will dip to 38. There are chances of appointment of a couple of more judges,” said a senior judicial officer.
