Rajasthan Roadways to follow guidelines strictly to reduce accidents 

Rajasthan Roadways have come out with strict guidelines drivers and depot managers to curb rising accidents of roadways buses

Rajasthan Roadways has come out with strict guidelines to prevent accidents, which have gone up over the years.

Sreya Guha, a 1994-batch , who is additional chief transport, also has additional charge of chairman and managing Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC).

According to the guidelines to be implemented strictly on ground, every driver and conductor of the Rajasthan Roadways bus will be tested for alcohol. They will have to undergo breath analyser test. If found in inebriated condition , they will not be allowed to drive the bus and strict action will be taken against them.

“In view of rising accidents, some prove to be fatal, the Rajasthan Roadways management has decided to go strict on basic parameters which can prevent accidents. All the depot managers have been instructed to follow the guidelines righty to avoid any disciplinary action,” said a senior Roadways official.

According to an estimate every year 200-250 buses of Rajasthan Roadways meet with accidents. In most of the cases, the reason is carelessness of the driver. The rate of has r r found out to be 0.05% per one lakh kilometres, which can be further reduced by observing compliance.

Medical test for Rajasthan Roadways drivers

The guidelines say that drivers, who are more than 50 years of age will have to undergo eye and medical check up twice a year. This will reduce accidents arising out of medical ailments. 

Apart from that the mechanical and technical of buses will also be tested regularly. No bus will ply unless certified fit to travel. 

Drivers will have to wear seat belt compulsorily and if they are found not wearing seat belt during surprise checks, strict action will be taken.  

Apart from that, Rajasthan Roadways drivers will not be able to use mobile phones while driver and also they won't be able to listen to music on radio or any other musical device.
