Trainee IPS officer Uday Krishna Reddy, who is facing allegations of sexually harassing a woman trainee IPS officer, is absconding. Based on the victim's complaint, the police registered a case and attempted to record Uday Krishna Reddy's statement, but he was unavailable. He was not found at either of his two addresses in Hyderabad.
Police had been trying to serve notices to Uday Krishna Reddy for the past two days, and have now confirmed that he is absconding. Special teams have been deployed to search for him.
Reddy is said to have consumed some poisonous substance after the woman levelled allegation against him. He was later hospitalised.
Reddy claims that they were in love with each other
However, he had filed a petition before the High Court clarifying his position against the allegation. Reddy stated that the woman and he were in love with each other.
“We were in love with each other… We wanted to get married,” Uday Krishna Reddy told the court that while undergoing training in Mussoorie, he was in a relationship with the woman IPS officer who later filed a complaint against him. He told the court that they were emotionally and physically intimate, and that they had decided to get married after joining the service.
However, Reddy stated that she married an IAS officer in the month of May because she suspected that Reddy was involved with another woman.
Reddy further told the High Court that after he came to the Hyderabad Academy, she realized he was not involved with anyone else and came to his room. She wanted to resume their relationship, but since she was already married by then, he said he refused.
Even so, the woman allegedly kept calling him repeatedly without listening to him and frequently visited his room.
Reddy showed intimate video to woman's husband
In his petition, Reddy stated that when her husband confronted her about this, she told him that he was the one harassing her.
He further stated that when her husband called and questioned him, he explained about their past relationship, but since the husband did not believe him, he sent him a video of the two of them being intimate in Mussoorie.
According to Reddy, this led to disputes between the couple. Furthermore, he claimed that, holding a grudge against him over this issue, she deliberately lodged a false complaint against him with the police based on false allegations, and he requested the High Court to quash the case registered against him.
