Bihar Police's Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) conducted raids at the premises of senior IAS officers Yogesh Sagar and Abhilasha Sharma in connection with the alleged tender scam. The raids are being carried out at various locations in Patna.
Yogesh Kumar Sagar is a 2017-batch IAS officer while Abhilasha Kumari Sharma is a 2014-batch IAS officer. They are facing allegations of money laundering.
Both officers have already been suspended after their alleged involvement. They are currently facing departmental proceedings.
Officers are accused of favouring a government contractor, Rishu Shree, in exchange for substantial commissions, overseas vacations, and lavish gifts for themselves and their families.
An SVU team raided the officers' residences in the morning to collect evidence to substantiate the charges. Abhilasha Sharma's residence was locked, but the team gained entry through the staff quarters. Both officers were present at their homes during the raids.
The SVU team visited residence of Pawan Kumar, Director of Matrusava Infra Private Limited. A search operation is underway, with officials examining documents related to the company and government tenders.
Following an ED report and an FIR registered at SUV police station in Patna, the Bihar government suspended both IAS officers. Rishu Shree has been in SUV custody for the past three days and is being interrogated in connection with the tender scam.
