Curious case of IAS Hanuman Mal Dhaka, being paid for no work since more than a year

It's rare that an officer, that too an awaits posting for more than a year irrespective of reason why the officer has been put on APO.

, a 2014 batch IAS, promoted from state civil services, has been paid salary without since April 2024 when he was put on APO on allegations of bribery charges.

Dhaka was then serving as Dudu (now abolished and again merged with Jaipur district) when he was allegedly trapped in ACB allegedly demanding Rs 25 lakh for a land conversion.

“Why it's taking so much time in decision making. Had Dhaka taken money, he should be suspended not put on APO. Or he should be posted if enquiry is still on,” said former IAS RC Jain.

Jain said that putting an officer on APO for more than one year is just wastage of resource and money of exchequer.

“He is being paid for no work. This can't be a punishment. I have not seen officers being on APO for such a long duration. The state government must take a decision on his status. Either suspend him or post him,” Jain said.

Dhaka started his career early at 23 years as RAS officer. He is still left with more than 8 years of service. In his previous appointments, he has served as collector Khairthal-Tijara, managing director Rajfed, joint secretary to CM when Ashok Gehlot was the . He has also served as Special Assistant to state minister revenue Amraram during Vasundhara Raje government from December 2016 to December 2018.
