Naveen Jain, a 2001 batch IAS officer, who is serving as secretary finance (expenditure) completed 24 years in civil service. Next year in January he is slated to become principal secretary.
A native of Haryana, Jain has been posted 29 times in his 24 years of career. He had been collector of four districts – Baran, Karauli, Rajsamand and Hanumangarh. He had been collector of Baran district twice – on first occasion from May 2007 to June 2007 and then from August 2009 to August 2011.

Recently, he hit the headlines for finding discrepancies in Rajasthan Government Health Scheme. As finance secretary, he was able to find many loopholes in the system leading to inappropriate billing. It was after his intervention Rajasthan government has made several initiatives to plug the leakages.
Apart from that, he had also worked in several departments including health, planning, panchayatiraj, transport, labour and employment while making meaningful contribution.
In a social media post, Jain expressed his contentment and relished working as a civil service officer.
“I express my gratitude to all my mentors who believed in me and specially to thode who put me in tests time to time to make me take challenges in a better spirit,” he wrote in a social media post.
