Rajasthan energy minister Hiralal Nagar directed officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the upcoming summer season. He said that the intensity of heat is expected to be high this year.
“In such a situation, while assessing the possible increase in power demand, officials should ensure adequate availability of electricity,” he said.
Nagar said that efforts should be made to get power allocation from the common pool of central power houses.
Last year, centre had allocated a quota of up to 750 MW in the summer season, which helped in supply management,” he said.
The Energy Minister also directed to amend the tender process for the purchase of power from the exchange on a short-term basis from now on.
Additional Chief Secretary, Energy Ajitabh Sharma directed officials to ensure proper maintenance of thermal units so that not only the chances of unnecessary trips of the units be reduced but also maximum generation be achieved.
Sharma also directed the generation company to expedite the progress of the battery energy storage system.
Om Kasera, Managing Director of Rajasthan Energy Development and IT Services, gave a presentation on the average demand, availability, increase in demand of energy from the coming April to September.
He said that tenders have been issued for power procurement from the exchange on a short-term basis in April and May.
In the meeting, Managing Director of Jodhpur DISCOM Dr. Bhanwarlal, Joint Secretary, Department of Energy Saurabh Swamy, Chairman and Managing Director, RVUNL Devendra Shringi and senior officials of all the discoms were present.
