Rajasthan govt challenges acquittal of Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam and Sonali Bendre in blackbuck case

Rajasthan government on Friday filed a leave-to-appeal in the High Court in the blackbuck poaching case. The appeal has challenged the acquittal of actors Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam and Sonali Bendre in the poaching case.

Manoj Kumar Garg has ordered the case to be listed along with other related cases.

According to advocate Mahipal Vishnoi, black deer was hunted on October 1, 1998 in Kankani village of Jodhpur during the shooting of the film Hum Sath-Sath Hai. On April 5, 2018, the trial court had convicted actor Salman Khan and sentenced him to years in prison. Co-accused film actor Saif Ali Khan, actresses Neelam, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Dushyant Singh were acquitted with the benefit of doubt.

Now, when the government's leave-to-appeal is accepted, the case against all of them will be heard again. The state government's appeal will also include the matter related to the permission of transfer petition and the punishment of actor Salman Khan. The case will be heard on July 28, with all related cases being heard simultaneously.

Case Diary: 

Kankani village case: Actor Salman Khan was sent to Jodhpur on 5 April 2018 after conviction. However, on April 7, 2018, the District and Sessions Court granted conditional bail to Salman Khan on a bond of Rs 50 thousand and he was released on the same day. He is currently on bail in the case. At the same time, the hearing in this case is pending in the High Court.

Ghoda Farm House Case: In this case, on April 10, 2006, the CJM court sentenced him to 5 years imprisonment. Salman had moved the High Court against this. He was acquitted by the High Court on July 25, 2016. The state government had appealed against this decision in the . The hearing is pending.

Bhawad village case: In this case, the CJM court had convicted Salman on 17 February 2006 and sentenced him to one year in prison. The High Court though acquitted Salman in the case. The state government had appealed against the in the Supreme Court. The hearing is pending.

Arms case: In this case, the court had acquitted Salman on January 18, 2017. The state government had appealed against this decision in the High Court. The hearing is pending.
