Safety First: ACS Education Rajesh Yadav directs to construct safe school building structures

While furnishing guidelines to officials, Yadav reiterated that the safety of students is the topmost priority and under no circumstances dilapidated or unsafe buildings be used.

He said that the state government would be spending Rs 550 crore for construction and work in 2026-27. Last year, the government has carried out development work at more than 2,000 schools.

He urged officials to seek cooperation and financial assistance from public and corporates under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to revamp old building structures. 

Yadav instructed that the dilapidated school buildings marked in the past as well as all the school buildings currently in use should be re-examined. 

“Physical verification of the safety of each building should be ensured and all safety standards and rules should be fully complied with,” he said.

Yadav said that the buildings or rooms found unsafe in any way should be locked with immediate effect, barricaded and re-submitted a detailed report on their status quo.

The Additional Chief Secretary said that to strengthen the infrastructure of the schools, all the concerned departments, including the education department, have to work in coordination with each other, so that the benefits of the schemes can reach the students in a time-bound manner.
