165 RAS transferred ahead of Lok Sabha polls

Rajasthan government has released a big list of transfer of 165 RAS officer ahead of Lok Sabha elections Including many transferred last week

Rajasthan has transferred 165 RAS officers ahead of Lok Sabha . Around 100 sub divisional magistrate level officers, crucial in managing polls, have changed their places.

This is second big list of RAS transfer within a week's time when the government had issued transfer list of 396 RAS officers on February 22, 2024.

The latest list has relocation of a large number of RAS officers who had found their names in previous list also. So, the transferring and retransferring of officers continue.

Devaram Saini, former OSD of ex-chief minister , who was transferred to Banswara as additional divisional commissioner on February 2, 2024, has been brought nearer to Bikaner as registrar, agriculture university, within a month's time.

Sukhveer Saini, who was transferred on February 22, 2024 as director institute of education management and training (SIEMAT) has been again moved to state information commission as secretary.

Laxmikant Balot, who was made zila parishad, Alwar has been transferred again within a week as additional district magistrate and additional collector Beawar.

Similarly, many senior officers like Pankaj Ojha, Suresh Kumar Nawal, Tulika Saini, Gunjan Soni and Ramratan Saunkaria have transferred within a week. The transfer of Sheoram Verma in the list released on February 22, 2024, stood cancelled. He will remain as additional district magistrate and additional district collector Deedwana.

The transfer and re-transfer of officers within a week, within a month doesn't give a positive reflection on government's good governance mantra. The chief secretary and other senior officers have been pledging for good governance. Multiple transfer of  officers then raises question on the planning and implementation of government.

“If an officer has been transferred then the government should stick to its decision. What many officers do, they use political and other pressure pull to manipulate their postings. Even if manipulation has to happen, it should happen before the release of list. Transfer and retransfer just makes dent in the image of the government,” said a senior RAS officer.
