At a time when royal weddings rule the roost, this 2023 batch IAS officer-couple has presented an example of simple wedding. Madhav Bhardwaj and Aditi Varshney tied the nuptial knot in a simple registered marriage before Alwar Collector Artika Shukla. Only parents and siblings of both the officers were present during the registration.
Madhav Bhardwaj is currently serving as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Alwar, Rajasthan, while Aditi Varshney is posted as SDM in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

Madhav is from Mussoorie while Aditi is from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. She completed her schooling at Bishop Konrad School before graduating in Sociology from Miranda House, Delhi University a subject she also chose as her optional for the civil services examination.
Madhav holds a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from MNNIT Allahabad and an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad. Before joining the civil services, he worked as a Product Manager at Microsoft for two years. He decided to pursue the UPSC during the COVID-19 pandemic while working from home. Despite having a locomotor disability, he secured All India Rank (AIR) 536 in the UPSC CSE 2022 on his second attempt.
The couple first met during their IAS training. Their love blossomed in Mussoorie and with time, they decided to marry.
The couple shared that they will perform wedding in traditional Hindu rituals at a temple on an auspicious date after registering their marriage.
They also emphasised that the ceremonies will remain simple, with only close family members attending.
