KPSC scam: Kannale funded flight tickets for IAS Gyanendra Kumar and his girlfriend

As the investigation unfolds in the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) , more irregularities involving in – both currently imprisoned – have surfaced. 

The investigation revealed that Kannale, who had previously provided funds to Gyanendra Kumar for purchasing for his girlfriend, also financed the couple's travels.

As per the investigation, Basavaraj Kannale spent approximately ₹11 lakh—including the cost of 23 flight tickets— for trips taken by Gyanendra Kumar and his girlfriend to various locations across the country, including famous tourist spots in Uttar Pradesh.

Kannale purchased and provided the tickets to Gyanendra Kumar and his girlfriend through ‘Bhagavathi Enterprises,' a firm he owns in Bidar.

Between March and June, Gyanendra Kumar gifted his girlfriend gold and diamond jewelry worth a total of ₹52 lakh, comprising two separate purchases of ₹26 lakh each. 

A total of ₹2.9 lakh was paid for these purchases—₹1.9 lakh in cash and ₹1 lakh via a friend's . The remaining amount was transferred to a jewelry shop on Dickenson Road through various accounts held in a cooperative bank in Bidar.

The accused, Basavaraju Kannale, had opened accounts in a co-operative society in his friends' names specifically to facilitate this money transfer. In its application opposing the bail of the two individuals, the CID has now stated that footage from the jewelry shop, capturing the purchase of gold ornaments, has been seized.
