Former IAS P K Goyal has declined to join Rajasthan State Farmers Debt Relief Commission as member. He has cited personal reasons for not joining the post.
The outgoing Ashok Gehlot government had appointed Goyal as member of commission on October 6, 2023 just ahead the model code of conduct.
Goyal had also applied for the post of chairman, Real Estate Regularory Authority (RERA). The Gehlot government, however, preferred former IAS Veenu Gupta over him and appointed her as the RERA chief.
Goyal, a 1988 batch IAS officer, has retired as additional chief secretary school education in January this year.
Incidentally, Goyal is among two IAS officers in state bureaucracy who had opted to work under a junior batch chief secretary Niranjan Arya in secretariat. Arya was 1989 batch IAS and Goyal agreed work under Arya as additional chief secretary of education department. The other officer is Subodh Agarwal who is still working as additional chief secretary public health and engineering department.
According to sources, Goyal did not join the commission as he was expecting a better rehabilitation post retirement.
“Now that the government has changed, Goyal wants to explore better postings,” sources said.
Recently, former IAS and ex-chief secretary D B Gupta has retired from the post of chief information commissioner.
Apart from that there are several posts vacant in Rajasthan Public Service Commission, Information Commission and few other statutory bodies in the state.
