IPS Kishan Sahai Meena put on APO after the alleged rape case

A day after alleged rape case surfaced against senior IPS officer Kishan Sahai Meena, Rajasthan sent him on awaiting posting order (APO).

Meena,  a 2004 batch officer, promoted from state police service was serving as IG (Human Rights). He is scheduled to retire in July 2026. 

What is the case?

Kishan Sahai Meena has been of rape by a 53-year old woman. 

The woman had sent a complaint by post from another state to a police station in Jaipur. The police on the basis of complaint has started investigation after registering an FIR.

The woman alleged that Meena raped her at his office residence on the pretext of marriage.

Meena threatened the woman of dire consequences when she warned him of registering a complaint. After that the woman went out of the state and sent complaint through post. The woman also alleged that Meena threatened her over video calls regularly for three months. 

What Meena says?

Meena termed the allegation as a conspiracy. He said that the police should check the chat record to know the facts. 

“It's a conspiracy against me. I have been propagating scientific views ideology in the society. This is just a conspiracy to stop me. When police will analyse chat record, the fact will come out,” Meena said. 

Meena, an officer with controversial conduct, had been earlier put on APO twice and was suspended once for alleged misconduct.

Kishan Sahai had been in controversy in the past over comments on religion and leaving in the middle.

He had said that there is no supreme power like God, Allah or Bhagwan. If we are garnering strength from them then its is a myth. Whatever is written in religious books, is just a fiction,” he had said. 

His statement and views created furore among people and they targeted him for saying wrong things about God. 

Meena suspended for dereliction in election duty 

Kishan Sahai was suspended for leaving election duty in between without informing the Election . He was sent on election duty as Observer in Jharkhand state elections in October 2024. He left the duty in between after joining and came back to Jaipur without any information. The Election Commission directed Rajasthan Chief to suspend him.
