No mudslinging please: KK Pathak issues circular regulating public behaviour of officials

To curb the unruly behaviour of officials and prevent any mudslinging, DoP secretary KK Pathak has issued a circular regulating their behaviour in public

The issued a circular regulating the behaviour of its staff and officers on social media and press.

A circular regarding this has been issued by Dr KK Pathak, secretary department of personnel (. Pathak in his orders has referred an order issued by DoP when Bhaskar Sawant was the secretary in 2017.

The circular prohibits staff and offers to air criticism of government policies on any public platform, press or social media.  It also regulates officers from displaying indignified behaviour and from hurling unjustified, fictitious allegations on fellow staff member and other government officers. They have been warned against any mudslinging on each other.

The government through the circular has directed all staff and officers to stay away from dissemination false information, fictions allegations and  dignified comments on any public forum. “Those who are found indulged in such practices will be brought to book and strong action will be taken against them,” the circular read.

KK Pathak has recently been transferred to helm the personnel department from finance department where his work was acknowledged.

Rajasthan is not the only which issued orders regulating the public behaviour of staff and officers. States like Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and have already issued such orders.

“A sense of discipline and accountability is needed in government officials. They are representatives of government and they must behave in a dignified manner. Such orders are welcomed and should be implemented strictly,” said a senior government official.
