Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was on target for long time. There were intelligence input that Sampat Nehra, a member of Lawrence Bishnoi gang has conspired to kill Gogamedi from Bathinda jail in Punjab. He was trying to arrange AK-47 to kill Gogamedi.
The intelligence was shared by Punjab police to Rajasthan police. Gogamedi also requested to provide security as he suspected threat on his life. But no security was provided.
Exactly a year back, gangster Raju Thehat was also killed in broad daylight when assailants in guise of coaching students opened fire on him and fled. Thehat had also requested police protection suspecting threat on his life. But the request was denied and Thehat lost his life.
Similarity in killings of Gogamedi and Thehat
Gangster Rohit Godara of Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility of both the murders through Facebook posts.
Both the killings happened in broad daylight.
Both had gangster Anand Pal Singh in common. While Thehat was considered enemy of Anand Pal, Gogamedi was sympathiser. He had conducted statewide demonstrations after Anand Pal encounter.
Both Gogamedi and Thehat were aspiring to contest elections. While Gogamedi had contested on BSP ticket previously, he had claimed for Congress ticket in this elections. Thehat was also preparing for elections before the killing cut short his life.
In both cases, there were death threats and both had approached police for protection, which were denied.
In both cases killers approached Gogamedi and Thehat in guise of meeting them with known persons.
In both cases killers fled by shooting at innocent persons. In Raju Thehat murder, an innocent person who had come to meet her daughter at coaching institute was killed. In Gogamedi case, killers fired at the leg of a scooty rider, whose vehicle was used for fleeing.
In both cases killers pumped in multiple bullets to ensure death.
In both cases, killers are young.
