Why Gehlot should not cancel investment proposal of Adani ‘Sahab’

By B S Reporter

There is a huge pressure on Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot to cancel the Rs 65k crore investment proposal of billionaire Gautam Adani who is under constant attack from .

The recent Crackdown on Adani's business establishments in another ruled state – – has further intensified the pressure on Gehlot to write off the MoU. Himachal government has raided offices of Adani over irregularities in GST payment while Adani has shut down its two cement plants in the state over disagreement on ‘higher' freight charges.

Notwithstanding, the Gehlot government should not hurry in calling off the deal with deal. As a businessman Adani has every right to explore business opportunities across. And as a sensitive and progressive government, should facilitate investment which can bring revenue as well as create job opportunities. As such there has been no foul play reported or undue advantage on offering for Adani's proposed investment. Unlike Gujarat where Adani was offered almost free land for port development, Rajasthan government has not agreed to any special concession to Adani for his solar projects.

Gehlot on the other hand has refused to take any favour from Adani who offered to set up medical colleges in the state. Although his refusal came after the Adani-Hindenburg fiasco which has gripped the mind space of entire nation.

Adani is being targeted over his alleged connections with Prime Minister who has helped him win tenders and business opportunities across the globe.

When Rahul attacked Adani for the alleged business malpractices and building business empire through practising crony capitalism in Modi government, BJP counter attacked Congress for the hospitality shown by Gehlot to ‘Adani Sahab' during the investment summit held last year.
