Athar Aamir Khan, a 2016 batch IAS, from Rajasthan cadre, who is on a three-year deputation to Jammu and Kashmir, took over the charge of Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam.
Before taking over as DC Kulgam, Athar Aamir was posted as Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation & CEO Srinagar Smart City Limited. He was a popular officer while serving in Srinagar. He also got married to Mehreen Qazi, who is a well-known Indian physician who rose to prominence after becoming engaged to IAS Athar Aamir Khan. The pair has a large social media following.
Showing his gratitude to the people of Srinagar Khan writes on X,
“Working in Srinagar for almost 3 years as Commissioner SMC and CEO Srinagar Smart City was an opportunity of lifetime. It was my dream to service here. And these three years I have lived my dream. I am immensely grateful for this opportunity. As I move on to my next assignment as DC/DM Kulgam I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone in Srinagar for all the support, love and affection,” he tweeted.
Athar Aamir Khan was the second topper in 2016 batch and got married to the batch topper Tina Dabi, who is also a Rajasthan cadre IAS officer.
The most talked about power couple fell apart after some time and took divorce. Tina Dabi also got married to Pradeep Gawande, who is a 2013 batch IAS officer in Rajasthan.
In Rajasthan, he had served for a brief period. He was appointed sub divisional officer and sub divisional magistrate of Badnor in Bhilwara and then chief executive office of zila parishad Jaipur.
On assuming charge as DC Kulgam, Athar Aamir stated that he will carry forward the pace of development in the district and his priority would be prompt service delivery and holistic development of the district
